Re: make emoncms remember username....

Set "Remember me"?  (Cookies must be enabled in your browser, I think.)

Re: make emoncms remember username....

I'm assuming you're running this locally on a Pi ?

Are you "logging" out each time?

I don't & it remembers who I am and that I'm logged in.

Note that if the Pi re-boots then where PHP stores its session data

seems to be in /tmp & hence wiped on a reboot !

Re: make emoncms remember username....

I've noticed that the "Remember Password" behaves differently in the different browsers.  I use a system that IE refuses to remember, but Firefox and Chrome are happy to.  I've always used Firefox for my EmonCMS and it does remember the password.

Re: make emoncms remember username....

Can anyone describe how it is supposed to work?

I have never seen any difference in any browser whether I check the 'remember me' or not.

Re: make emoncms remember username....

my running chrome too

from a normal users view its supposed to remember you so that you dont have to login every time

Re: make emoncms remember username....

The remember me feature works by storing a cookie (with an expire time of 1 week), when it works you shouldn't see the login screen at all, when you navigate to your emoncms install it should go straight to the user profile page. Because of the way the login screen uses ajax, i couldnt get the automatic entry of username and password that many browser allow, the remember me feature is meant to be a better alternative.

Lionel, JBecker, are cookies turned off on your browsers, I dont know if IE handles them differently but could be something there

Re: make emoncms remember username....

Thank you very much for the explanation Trystan. After enabling Cookies according to the instructions in Firefox Help it works!

(I already have hundreds of cookies installed already, no idea why I have to 'enable' them now!?!)

Re: make emoncms remember username....

tried in "exploder", did not work at all

in chrome i have to double click username and i can select it.... but i still have to enter password each time

it does not matter if i check the remember me or not

Re: make emoncms remember username....

Same here, annoying. There has to be a solution.

Re: make emoncms remember username....

I bodged it using this Chrome extension:

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/form-save-and-restore/jknhanfp...

Dunno why Chrome doesn't offer to save the password for me tho, and haven't had time to look into it further...

Re: make emoncms remember username....

At least I know now I am not the only one having this issue. Very annoying though.
