Since finishing my degree in June 2010, an MEng in Electronic Engineering for Warwick University I moved home to North Wales to live in the mountains and work on the OpenEnergyMonitor project.

Since then I have built a comprehensive monitoring system for my own home, done a volunteer placement working on monitoring systems at CAT. I am currently working on developed the emonTx and more recently been working on taking the first steps towards setting up a business called Megni with Trystan Lea to offer energy monitoring services in the local area. 

I am also a keen climber and mountaineer. At weekends I work part time on the bar at Plas Y Brenin, the National Mountain Centre in Capel Curig. I keep a blog to write about my adventures, but mainly its just used to post photos!

This is really exciting stuff.  I believe that many heat pump systems are not set-up, or operated well. This is party due to their complexity, and also due to the fact that few people are familiar with slow-response heating systems.  Live monitoring of temperatures and power-use is possibly the only way to really know what is going on. It is a great way to educate people how to operate their systems. I'm very keen to get involved with OpenEnergyMonitor. Well done guys for getting this going.

I have a very specific interest. I have installed an evacuated tube panel on the side of my house and it is working well in providing me with hot water. Interested in monitoring it and the commercial controller that I bought with the panel is not capable of doing it.

Technologically I graduated in electronics in 1959! No experience of electronics in recent years but generally still capable of learning. Oldest member at 72?

Still running but not as far or as fast as I used to do.

Building power monitoring system for home to monitor, measure and record power used by heat pump, appliances, computers, and most importantly, electric water heater. Planning to install solar hot water heating panels and eventually, solar PV panels. Need to understand precise power utilization 24x7 in the home in order to accurately calculate both viability and payback of solar power options.

I am a BS Electrical Eng. from North Carolina State University, but career in the past 15-or-so years has been purely as a UNIX/Windows/Storage/Backup administrator. Currently writing training courses for other support engineers at my place of employment.

Time is always a precious commodity, so I don't get to work on my beloved Arduino as much as I would like, but my intention is to contribute to the movement, Sustainable Suburbia, as envisioned by "Trystan and the Gang".

I have discovered the Arduino opensource hardware platform about a year ago and build my first Arduino from documentation found on their web site. Since then I have played around with the hardware and must say that it made things easy. I have previously tried to work with PIC's but it sort of never really worked out for me.

In South Africa we have been spoiled with cheap electricity but those days are gone now. I started looking at monitoring our electricity consumption about 6 months ago when i first stumbled upon your web site. With some ideas of my own and some information on this site I have setup a electricity monitoring system at my home to get a better understanding of our consumption. This has proved very useful for me.

I have started developing and designing and dreaming about monitoring different things around the house. But quickly ran into costing issues since I wanted to have distributed nodes that could communicate to a central server. The network interface kept me busy for some time trying to understand everything. My first network enabled device is almost finish and it will replace an old 286 PC driving my sprinkler system.

I have studied architecture and practiced as an architect for some years and then made a career change to software development. Electronics have always been a hobby but lately the combination of architecture as in the build environment, hardware as in the arduino platform and software as c, java and php is driving me crazy.

I hope I can find a way to contribute to this project.
