Im building an evac tube water heater to heat dichloromethane which will then drive a turbine to make electricity

I work in telecommunications and energy systems.
Now I'm dedicated to reduce costmumer cost OPEX.
I'm also developing some meetering devices.

Open source hardware/software. I work with small windmills, small hydro plants, monitoring and sensing networks. Emon is perfect for this type of applications.

I would like to learn or get ideas on how to monitor my power consumption. I have an Elster meter and would love to be able to do it myself.

I'm a system admin at Yahoo! I'm working as a volunteer for our internal `Green Team'. We currently measure energy consumption for our Sunnyvale, California campus on a per building basis (several MWH/day typically). We'd like to start looking at plug loads. That brought me here! First, I'd like to get an OpenEnergyMonitor working. Then I'd like to see if I could get them networked with XBees. HW's on the way and I can't wait to start working on this =)

Electronics Eng, Electrician, 16yrs of career has been spent in telecoms, project managing global s/w + h/w projects, managing s/w dev teams etc. Love the mountains, in fact anywhere wild.... but struggle to get there these days with the fantastic 4 we've got at home:-) Have spent the last 400yrs trying to learn the guitar and am still enjoying the 'journey'. The work done here is something else, and the fact that it's coming from a area on the planet like north wales is another plus! So I hope I can contribute and help move things forward.

I've been interested in solar for the last thirty years or so, starting with a 6-12v maplin module which charged batteries. Since then I built my own solar thermal panel which has saved me loads over the seven years since I made it. I have etched and made my own pcb's over the years for various projects and knew at some point, my interests would converge. I have had installed a 2.75kWp system and wish to squeeze the best out of it with the help of fellow members of this forum.

I want to type a webpage in my browser and see some data from my house. I have a Nanode 5 and will try to add a RMF12 to make a net of RMF12 that transmit the data to be seen in the browser. Only starting but I think it is doable (and fun) and helps me in control the energy usage. I follow you sometime and see the progress. I think if I "clone" some of your work I can do my "network". By the way I am from Peru. Thank you for sharing knowledge. I apologize for my "english" but hope you can understand me.

I have been a linux user for many users, and especially Mythtv since 2003.

Started monitoring my energy usage using www.imeasure.org.uk a couple of years ago, and currently submit readings weekly.

Moved my 24/7 server to a hacked pogoplug a year ago, and am controlling various devices using a Telldus Tellstick, and temperature monitoring using 1-wire devices.

real time energy monitoring is the next thing for me. Firmly believe that my usage data should be mine to do what I want with.

Using Efergy monitor E2 but wish to have a webpage access for monitoring energy usage in the house.
Sniffing of E2 digital output so far unsuccessful.
Openenergymonitor solutions looks like a better option.

Retired physicist working with our woodland we have planted. Have a small turbine with 3 phase output and want to track how much of its power we use and how much gets exported. Later want to control heating and hoping to put in a heat pump to run with our own power.

Just had solar installed and have now an interest in what I can do and get out of it.

Update:

I've built a proportional control immersion heater divert board with feeds taken from standard emonTX.

I'm using a MEGA1280 for controlling outside 12V LED soffit downlighting with PIR's to activate fade up/down according to LDR light levels and time signal received from the emonbase.  Also added on is a 433mhz OOK transmitter to send on/off signals to various Home Easy remote sockets for various functions but most proudly to control a dedicated beer fridge which gets chilled for free with spare solar power - it tastes so much nicer when chilled for free...
